Thomas Tuchel will remain as England manager through to the 2028 European Championship after agreeing a new deal with the Football Association.
His previous contract had been due to end following the 2026 World Cup, but the extension secures his position for an additional two years.
The 52-year-old took over from Gareth Southgate in early 2025 and has made an impressive start to life in charge. England have enjoyed a flawless World Cup qualifying campaign so far, winning every match in their group without conceding a single goal. The FA believes extending Tuchel’s contract ensures long-term stability as the team prepares for upcoming major tournaments.
Tuchel has spoken positively about the project, expressing his enthusiasm about continuing to work with the squad and building towards both the 2026 World Cup and Euro 2028. The latter tournament will be co-hosted by England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland, adding further significance to his extended tenure.
By committing to the national team, Tuchel has also quieted speculation linking him with a return to club football, reinforcing his focus on delivering success with the Three Lions.
