Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski, who has recently been linked with potential moves to Juventus and Milan, has revealed that Genoa are the only Serie A side that has ever come close to reaching an agreement with him.
Lewandowski will be a free agent at the end of the season and according to recent reports in Italy, he is on the radar of Milan and Juventus.
The former Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund striker gave an interview to “Sportweek”, where he spoke about his previous links with Italian clubs and his opinion about Italian football.
Lewandowski insisted he has not yet made any decision about his future beyond the current season, despite speculation about a possible move to Serie A.
“Honestly, there’s nothing to say today. And I’m saying that honestly.”
“The goal is to get to the end of the season with as many wins, goals and trophies as possible, then we’ll see. I’m not thinking about it and I haven’t made a decision. It’s not a priority at the moment.”
The Polish striker also revealed that he has only been close to a move to Serie A once, and that was in 2010, before joining Borussia Dortmund.
“In 2010 I was still in Poland and I was close to joining Borussia Dortmund. Genoa wanted to sign me, so they invited me to watch a match against Sampdoria.”
“I was curious to see what the club was like, the stadium, the atmosphere, and also to respect those who had shown interest in me. I went to watch the derby in Marassi. It was the only time I had contact with an Italian club.”
Lewandowski was also asked for his opinion on the state of Italian football in 2026.
“I think the Italian league is very competitive. It’s usually a tough competition and the same team doesn’t always win.”
“Teams like Juventus and Inter have reached the Champions League finals in recent years, so it doesn’t seem to be in crisis, if you ask me.”
