Barcelona are interested in bringing in a central defender this summer and one of their top targets could be on the market.
Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni was reportedly close to signing a new contract at Milan, but the Nerazzurri’s plans appear to have changed.
Bastoni, 26, was mentioned as one of Barcelona’s top targets before the winter break, but the Catalan club were not convinced of his ability to reach an agreement with Inter.
The Italian international had hinted that he was also interested in a move to Barcelona, but in February it was reported that he would stay at Inter.
However, the situation could change. Although he is under contract until 2028, Inter are reviewing their strategy in the transfer window and have decided that only Francesco Pio Esposito and Lautaro Martinez are completely untouchable in the squad.
For all other players, the club is willing to consider offers if their valuation is met. According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter would demand around 70 million euros to allow Bastoni to leave.
On the other hand, Barcelona has announced that it believes it can make a major transfer this summer.
However, the club’s spending capacity remains unclear. Even if the Catalans manage to invest heavily in a player, sources from Catalonia say that the priority will initially be a striker, and only then a central defender.
