PSG Confirm Interest On Chelsea Star

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly shown interest in a Chelsea star ahead of the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 between the two teams.

Today (Wednesday), Liam Rosenior’s Chelsea will face the current European champions, PSG, at the ‘Parc des Princes’, a challenge that is considered the toughest for the English coach since taking office on January 6.

Rosenior has only suffered defeats against Arsenal, three times, since taking over the role, while he has guided Chelsea to impressive victories against Aston Villa and Napoli.

However, facing one of the strongest teams in Europe will be a completely different test for the Rosenborg team.

The French club’s players and technical staff will be fully focused on the match, but reports suggest that the PSG hierarchy are also keeping an eye on a Chelsea star, who they could target in the summer transfer window.

According to French outlet L’Equipe , PSG consider midfielder Enzo Fernandez to be a player with the technical ability, experience and talent to excel in Paris, and are in contact with the player and his representatives, despite the Argentine being contracted to Chelsea until 2032.

Fernandez, 25, joined Chelsea from Portuguese club Benfica for a then-British record fee of €123m in February 2023 and has since made 157 appearances for the club, contributing 27 goals and 28 assists.

The 25-year-old is reported to be Chelsea’s third highest-paid player on €207,000 a week, which would also make him PSG’s ninth highest-paid player if he were to join the French club.

Fernandez’s value could significantly exceed the amount Chelsea paid for him, however it remains unclear whether PSG would be willing to pay such a high price.

If he were to transfer, the Argentine midfielder would compete with Joao Neves, Fabian Ruiz and Vitinha for a starting spot in Luis Enrique’s team.
