Rodrygo Suffers ACL Injury

Real Madrid’s biggest fears have been confirmed. Rodrygo Goes has suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and a torn lateral meniscus in his right knee, ending his current season and missing out on his participation in the World Cup with Brazil.

The Brazilian striker underwent medical examinations this morning, following concerns he felt during the match against Getafe.

The medical report released by Real Madrid states: “Following tests carried out today by the Real Madrid Medical Services, Rodrygo has been diagnosed with a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament and a rupture of the lateral meniscus in his right knee.”

Rodrygo returned to the field against Getafe after almost a month of absence due to a tendon injury.

He entered the game in the 54th minute, but at the end of the match he was seen clutching his right knee, where he had begun to feel pain.

Although he managed to finish the match, detailed examinations revealed severe damage.

Alarming situation for Real Madrid’s attack

With this injury, Real Madrid are left with very limited options in the attacking department. Currently, Vinicius Jr and Gonzalo are the only strikers available for the next match, as Mbappé is injured and Mastantuono is suspended.

How long does recovery take?

Anterior cruciate ligament damage is considered among the most serious in professional football and almost always requires surgical intervention.

The most common procedure is to reconstruct the ligament through arthroscopy, using the player’s own tissue.

According to specialists, returning to training can occur after a few months, but a full return to competition usually takes 9 to 12 months.

The medical minimum is about 6 months, but experts recommend a longer period to avoid recurrence of the injury.

Carlo Ancelotti must now think about another winger, even though Rodrigo was his confidant.
