Nottingham Forest have reached an agreement with Vitor Pereira to take charge until the end of next season as they fight to retain their Premier League status. The 57-year-old replaces Sean Dyche, who was dismissed earlier this week.
Forest currently sit 17th in the table, just three points above the relegation zone, having managed only two wins in their last 10 league matches.
Another Change at the City Ground
Pereira becomes Forest’s fourth manager since September, following spells under Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou and Dyche.
Dyche was relieved of his duties after a goalless draw against bottom-placed Wolves, a result that intensified concerns over the club’s form and direction.
Return to English Football
The Portuguese coach returns to England after previously managing Wolves, where he won 14 of 38 matches and secured survival last season. However, he was dismissed earlier this campaign after a difficult start.
Pereira also has a previous working relationship with Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis from their time together at Olympiacos. During his six-month spell in Greece, he won both the league title and the Greek Cup before moving on to Fenerbahce.
Experienced but Well-Travelled
Pereira began his managerial career in Portugal in 2004 and has since worked across multiple countries, including Germany, China, Brazil and Saudi Arabia. Forest will mark his 15th managerial role.
Immediate Challenges Ahead
His first match in charge will be a Europa League knockout round play-off first leg away to Fenerbahce, followed by a crucial Premier League clash against Liverpool.
With instability dominating much of their season, Forest hope Pereira can quickly steady the team and guide them clear of the relegation zone in the decisive months ahead.
