Raheem Sterling has completed a surprise move to Dutch giants Feyenoord, signing as a free agent after departing Chelsea earlier this year. The former England international will now work under Manchester United legend Robin van Persie, who is currently in charge of the Eredivisie side.
Sterling’s exit from Chelsea was confirmed by mutual agreement, bringing an end to his three-and-a-half-year spell at Stamford Bridge. The winger is now aiming to rebuild his career in the Netherlands after a challenging period in the Premier League.
End of His Chelsea Chapter
Sterling joined Chelsea from Manchester City in the summer of 2022 and went on to make 81 appearances for the club, scoring 19 goals and providing 15 assists. At the time of his arrival, then-manager Thomas Tuchel described the signing as a major boost, praising Sterling’s experience, versatility and attacking quality.
However, despite flashes of form, Sterling struggled to consistently replicate the heights he reached during his time at City. His contract termination earlier this year allowed him to explore new opportunities, ultimately leading to his move abroad.

Short-Term Deal in the Netherlands
The 29-year-old has signed a short-term contract running until the end of the season. Feyenoord currently sit second in the Eredivisie table, although they trail leaders PSV Eindhoven by a significant margin.
Ajax were reportedly monitoring the situation, but Feyenoord moved quickly to secure Sterling’s signature. The move offers the winger a fresh start and the chance to play a key role in a new environment as he looks to revive his form.
