Nottingham Forest are on the verge of appointing former Wolves manager Vitor Pereira as their new head coach following the dismissal of Sean Dyche.
Forest parted ways with Dyche shortly after a goalless draw against bottom-placed Wolves, a result that left the club just three points above the relegation zone with 12 Premier League matches remaining. Talks with Pereira have advanced quickly, and an agreement is now understood to be close.
Fourth Manager of a Turbulent Season
The 57-year-old Portuguese coach rapidly emerged as the leading candidate for the role. Pereira previously worked under Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis during his time at Greek side Olympiacos, a connection that is believed to have accelerated negotiations.
Pereira gained recognition for guiding Wolves to Premier League survival last season after taking charge midway through the campaign. However, he was dismissed in November following a difficult start to the new season, with Wolves collecting just two points from their opening 10 matches.
If appointed, Pereira will become Forest’s fourth manager of the campaign, following spells from Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou and Sean Dyche, as the club battles to secure its Premier League status.
