Xavi Hernandez has rejected an offer to take charge of the Morocco national team.
Even though it would have given him the opportunity to lead the team at the World Cup.
It’s been almost two years since Xavi was replaced by Hansi Flick as Barcelona coach. After leaving the Catalan club, he decided to take a break from football for about a year, rejecting several offers and spending more time with his family.
However, since last summer he has been open to new projects again. His priority remains a return to club football, particularly in the Premier League.
According to reports from Cadena SER, the Moroccan Football Federation considered Xavi as the leading candidate to replace Walid Regragui, who was expected to leave.
However, negotiations failed to reach an agreement. Xavi asked to bring with him a staff consisting of an assistant coach, an analyst and a physical trainer, but the Moroccan Federation made it clear that he had to come without this support team.
Due to this condition, Xavi decided to reject the offer. He continues to wait for an opportunity in club football and it is not excluded that he will take charge of a new team during the summer, when numerous changes are expected on the benches of European clubs.
