Rodrygo Played With a Torn Ligament For Almost Three Years

Brazilian winger and Real Madrid player Rodrygo ended his season after a serious knee injury he suffered in the last La Liga match against Getafe.

New reports reveal that he has been playing with a partially torn anterior cruciate ligament for nearly three years, without surgical intervention.

According to The Athletic, Rodrygo initially suffered a partial rupture of the same ligament in 2023 while on international duty with Brazil.

At that point, the club’s medical team decided on a conservative approach without surgical intervention, relying on intensive physiotherapy and preventive work in the gym, with the aim of reducing the risk of a complete rupture and maintaining his availability for the club and national team.

Unfortunately, the knee finally hurt during his first appearance since early February, shortly after returning from a break caused by tendinosis in his right thigh muscle.

Medical examinations have confirmed that the 25-year-old has suffered a complete rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament and lateral meniscus in his right knee, which has seriously damaged the joint. He faces a long and difficult rehabilitation.
