Real Madrid have been linked with a move for Manchester City midfielder Rodri almost since he won the Ballon d’Or, and this summer could be the time when Los Blancos make a move for the Spaniard.
Initially, Madrid had identified Rodri as a target for last summer, but a ligament injury ruled out the possibility of a big financial offer for him.
Rodri is still looking to return to his top form on a consistent basis, as several injuries have hampered him this season, despite recovering from a ligament tear in the summer.
However over the past two months he has started seven of City’s last eight Premier League games and appears to be regaining his form, with an eye on the 2026 World Cup.
It was previously reported that Real Madrid intend to closely monitor his progress until the end of the season to assess his full return.
According to journalist Ramon Alvarez, the Madrid club will move for his transfer if Rodri manages to remove any doubts over his physical condition in the long term.
The belief at the Santiago Bernabeu is that an agreement can be reached with Manchester City for around 50 million euros this summer.
Earlier in the season, it was reported that City had opened talks with Rodri over a new contract, but it appears that no significant progress has been made in this regard.
The 29-year-old will have just one year left on his contract in the summer, which could ease negotiations with Real Madrid as City will have to make a decision on his future .
