Real Madrid have confirmed that left-back Ferland Mendy has suffered a muscle injury to the biceps femoris of his right leg.
The club’s medical staff carried out tests on the French player, which revealed the nature of the injury. Real Madrid announced that his return to the pitch will depend on the progress of his recovery, describing the situation as “awaiting evolution”.
As a result of this physical problem, Mendy will probably miss this weekend’s home match against Elche in La Liga, as well as the trip to Manchester next Tuesday.
However, Alvaro Carreras could recover in time to help Real Madrid defend their first-leg advantage.
Mendy has struggled with injuries since joining Real Madrid in 2019 and has only made five appearances this season.
He started the season out with a thigh problem, before suffering several other muscle problems that have significantly limited his involvement with Los Blancos.
