Real Madrid legend Hugo Sanchez has hailed Kylian Mbappe as the best striker in the world at the moment and believes the Frenchman can break his own record for Pichichi trophies.
The French star recovered from his injury in midweek against Manchester City and is expected to be in the starting line-up against Atletico Madrid.
Sanchez has heaped praise on Mbappe, adding that he expects him to break his records at Real.
“I see him as a player ‘hungry’ to surpass his achievements. I think he is the best striker in the world right now, and if he stays healthy, I hope he continues to achieve great results with Real Madrid, which is what I would really like.”
“I hope and wish that he equals or surpasses me, and that would be good for Real Madrid. If he doesn’t surpass me and win five Pichichi trophies, then let him win at least four, as many as I have won with Real Madrid.”
“Whether he succeeds or not, Mbappe will leave an indelible mark on the club forever,” he declared.
The 27-year-old won the Pichichi award – the top scorer in La Liga – last year and is on course to win it again this season. He leads the scoring charts with 23 goals.
