Real Madrid Have Decided on The Defender They Will Sign in The Summer

Real Madrid aims to strengthen the defensive department during the summer transfer window and the club’s leaders seem to have already decided on the main target.

According to a report by Diario AS, Madrid are not expected to encounter major obstacles in the race for the transfer of Nico Schlotterbeck, thanks to the very good relationship they have with Borussia Dortmund.

The German defender has been identified as the main target as part of the defence reshuffle, as David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger are expected to leave after their contracts expire.

Schlotterbeck has reportedly opted not to sign an extension with Dortmund, preferring to take a big step in his career to an elite European club. His current contract with the German club runs until June 2027.

Madrid president Florentino Perez has maintained a strong relationship with Dortmund over the years, a collaboration that also proved decisive in the transfer of Jude Bellingham in 2023.

The German club had previously informed Real about Erling Haaland’s situation when he requested a move away, however the Norwegian striker ended up at Manchester City.
