Manchester United have added a surprise target to their summer transfer list after manager Michael Carrick confirmed the club’s plans for further reinforcements in the transfer window.
United made significant investments in the attacking department last summer, signing Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.
Although the club spent over 70 million euros on each of these players, the Red Devils intend to bring in other strikers when the transfer window reopens this summer.
According to reports from the Daily Mail , Manchester United have added left-back Marcus Tavernier to their list of targets.
The 26-year-old has been in fine form for Bournemouth this season, scoring six goals and providing five assists. He joined the club in the summer of 2022 and is contracted at the Vitality Stadium until 2029.
According to the report, his value could reach around €47 million, while Bournemouth may be willing to sell the player, as the club has often made strategic sales to secure a profit and discover new talent at a lower cost.
Tavernier is also attracting interest from Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest, who had made enquiries about him during the January transfer window.
Manchester United will closely monitor the situation, while the final decision will also depend on the position in which the team will finish the season, as the club’s goal is to secure a place in the Champions League.
Qualifying for this competition would help United win the race for players like Tavernier, although the club managed to sign Sesko, Cunha and Mbeumo even without being part of Europe’s most prestigious club competition.
