Kylian Mbappe is having the most injury-plagued season of his career, with the Real Madrid forward having already missed 53 days due to physical problems, surpassing his personal record of 51 days in the 2019/20 season, according to MARCA.
The Frenchman, widely regarded as one of the planet’s elite strikers, has been forced off the pitch eight times in the last three months — a stark contrast to his usually very consistent physical record.
Last season, Mbappe missed just 24 days for Real Madrid, while in the last three seasons at Paris Saint-Germain he was out for just 42 days in total.
Recurring problems this season — most notably a persistent sprain in his left knee first noticed after the December match against Celta Vigo — have disrupted his rhythm and limited his availability at a critical stage of the season.
The latest deterioration during Tuesday’s training session has pushed the club towards a more cautious approach, with Mbappe opting for conservative treatment over surgery to maintain his participation with France at the 2026 World Cup.
He is expected to miss at least Real Madrid’s next two matches, while his status for the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Manchester City remains seriously in doubt.
Mbappe’s frustration is palpable, as the player who has built a reputation as an almost ever-present difference-maker now finds himself constantly on the treatment table.
