Jules Kounde has once again emerged at the center of transfer speculation, this time with a reported €80 million price tag, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Liverpool Searching for Defensive Reinforcements
The 27-year-old defender, under contract with Barcelona until 2030, has been linked with Liverpool repeatedly since his move from Sevilla in 2022. Rumors have surfaced in 2023, 2024, and 2025, but this is the first time a figure this high has been reported.
Liverpool are reportedly looking for a defender to replace Ibrahima Konaté and potentially Virgil van Dijk, and are reportedly willing to spend €80 million on the French international.
Kounde’s Role at Barcelona
Although naturally a center-back, Kounde has solidified his position as a right-sided defender under Barcelona coach Hansi Flick and remains a key player for the team. He was signed from Sevilla for €50 million plus €10 million in add-ons.
Currently, his Transfermarkt value sits around €65 million, but Barcelona would reportedly only consider a sale close to €80 million. His release clause remains set at €1 billion.
What’s Next
No official confirmation has come from either club, but Liverpool’s interest appears to be intensifying ahead of the summer transfer window.
