Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone has praised Barcelona ahead of their Champions League quarter-final clash.
Atletico and Barcelona will meet in the quarter-finals after eliminating Tottenham and Newcastle United, respectively, from the competition for the most prestigious trophy in the world.
Simone’s Atletico managed to eliminate Barcelona from the King’s Cup, however the Argentine coach is convinced that they can do it again despite the difficulties.
“We will try to compete with Barcelona, which is the team we will face. I repeat, they have the best attack in Europe. The opportunity to play in the quarter-finals is of the highest level and it will require this level from us.”
“The rivalry with Real and Barcelona? It’s normal. The problem lies with those who don’t want to see it. We compete with teams that aim for the League, the Cup and are almost always in the Champions League final.”
“Burgos says he always wants friendlies with Real and Barcelona because when we compete with them, we become better. Barcelona is better, but I hope this pushes us to compete at the best level,” he declared.
Meanwhile, Atletico and Barcelona will play three matches within 10 days, as they also meet in La Liga.
