Chelsea Want Player Who Failed At Barcelona

Chelsea have reportedly made an initial offer to sign former Barcelona striker Vitor Roque.

The Brazilian striker, who struggled during a brief spell at Barcelona, has rediscovered his goalscoring form with Palmeiras, attracting huge interest from the London club’s management.

According to Mundo Deportivo , the London club have identified the player nicknamed “Tigrinho” as one of their main targets for the summer transfer window. It is reported that Chelsea have already formalised their interest with an offer of around €50m.

Although his spell in La Liga was largely considered a failure, his recent form in Brazil has restored belief that he can succeed at the highest level of European football.

The news of Chelsea’s interest is a very positive development for Barcelona’s finances. The Catalan giants sold Roque to Palmeiras in February 2025 for a fixed fee of €25.5m, plus another €5m in add-ons.

However, a very important part of the agreement was a clause of 20 percent from the future sale.

If Chelsea’s interest ends in a major transfer, Barcelona could benefit from a significant financial chunk.

There is also a specific detail in the contract regarding this percentage. Reports indicate that if Palmeiras sells the striker for less than €40m, then Barcelona’s percentage will drop to just 10 per cent.

However, with Chelsea’s initial offer reportedly around €50m, the Catalan club are currently well on their way to securing a full 20 per cent of the transfer fee.
